Staff Mini-Grant Program

Mission of the Blue Springs Education Foundation

To enhance the excellent programs and instruction synonymous with the Blue Springs School District and provide assistance for student success in the K-12 experience and beyond.

Purpose of the Mini-Grants

Paradise Park and BSEF know that students, staff, and classrooms have needs for supplies and small monetary requests, therefore the mini-grants are now available to ease the burden of expense from staff and increase opportunity for students.

Eligibility

Any teacher, administrator, or academic support staff person employed by the Blue Springs School District is eligible to apply. 

Staff Grant requests should not exceed $200, although it is recommended requests stay at or below $100.  These requests must be for projects or programs for which there is not funding available by other school resources or parent groups.

The proposed project or program must support and may supplement the current district curriculum, but it cannot replace them.

Grant Guidelines

To maintain anonymity, please do not use staff or school names to answer application questions.  You may use names on the cover page.

Review and Approval Process

The application must be reviewed and approved by the applicant’s principal or supervisor.  Approval will be verified by the signature on the cover page.

Once submitted the applications will be reviewed by the Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure compliance with district initiatives.

If approved all applications will be anonymously scored by the Grants Committee.  The Grants Committee will consist of parents, district personnel, BSEF board members, and retired educators.

Grants Funded

Grant recipients will be required to submit all receipts along with a final grant report.  If final costs come in under the proposed, the payment overage must be submitted to the Education Foundation. 

Recipients may be asked to make a brief presentation to the Blue Springs Education Foundation Board of Directors, and by submitting the application you agree to make any necessary arrangements for this requirement.

Purpose of the Grants of Educational Excellence Program

Grants are awarded to projects that enhance the education of Blue Springs School District students by encouraging and recognizing new educational approaches and concepts that are not currently funded by the district.  Grants are also awarded for parent or family involvement or educator development.

Eligibility

Any teacher, administrator, or academic support staff person employed by the Blue Springs School District is eligible to apply. 

Staff Grant requests cannot exceed $5,000, although it is recommended requests stay between $100 and $2000.  These requests must be for projects or programs for which there is not funding available by other school resources or parent groups.

The proposed project or program must substantially improve or enhance the educational experience of the Blue Springs School District students through innovative and creative teaching and learning techniques.

The proposed project or program must support and may supplement the current district curriculum, but it cannot replace them.

If transportation is requested, all trip costs must be verified by trip supervisor at transportation prior to submission of the grant.

If funding is requested for substitute teacher pay, no more than one half-day collaboration for involved staff will be approved.  The district cost of $48.44 should be included in the budget calculations of the grant application.

For after school activities stipends, the district rate of $21 per hour should be used in calculations.

Technology equipment or software requests must be approved by Bryce Johnson.  All equipment becomes the property of the Blue Springs School District and must meet district specifications.  Upon approval of the grant, technology equipment must be ordered by the BSSD technology department.  Please note that technology is dependent on the content and instruction for which it is used, and because of that applications for technology are reviewed more rigorously than non-technology requests.It is important that the applicant submit a solid plan showing how the technology will be used to benefit student achievement, community/family engagement, or educator development.Funds will not be awarded for wireless projectors, smart boards (the exception being special education classrooms), or clickers.
